I just realized that most of the threads are either Japanese and Chinese snacks.
I just had to mentioned this 'cause I like my snacks spicy.
OMG -- I just went to get this snack called Navrattan. Here's a picture of what it looks like: www.indojin.com/shop-onlin...ct_info.php
Not sure if they're bad for you but they're so damn good!!
And, Kheer [rice pudding] -- oh, my that's some good stuff too!!

Re: indian snacks & sweets
Sat, May 21, 2005 - 10:51 PMI'm into some Indian snacks like chevdo and punjabi mix. They're not as easy to come by as East Asian snacks though. Even in the Punjab markets it seems like there's little variety.
Except for kheer , I find Indian sweets too sweet or oddly cloying. Barfee (or burfi) is aptly named IMO.

Mon, September 4, 2006 - 4:19 PMwell i love bhel puri and would eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as for a snack. then there are those mixes like bhel puri, except they're dry and come in a bag. i guess there's a million names for them. i've got haldiram's hara chiwda and kashmir laziz nimko fararri mix in the pantry right now. they've got combinations of lentils, peanuts, currants or raisins, little cracker thingies made of gram flour, and spice. i love that combination of spice and a little sweet via the raisins.
