anyone else heard of this ? made from a dough, and mixed with a sweet bean paste and then rolled into a "snake" of sorts then cut up into tiny pieces and rolled in powdered sugar. It comes from the kawasaki area, if my memory serves, but I could be mistaken. It gets its name from the distinctive noise thats made when the butcher knife hits the cutting board. When i was in tokyo, all the vendors had stores that faced each other. as they prepared the candy, they all seemed to be linked to a sort of "psychic network" if you will, because they were all keeping the same beat. A sort of "TON ton ton TON ton ton TON ton TON ton ton".... like a flamenco dancer doing sevillanas(sp?)

anyhoo, I bring it up because I was at my cousins house this weekend, and she still had some from our trip last year, and it made me homesick. (No, Im not japanese. I plan on living there though. if only for the candy.)

has anyone else tried this ?
